Durban Review Conference: First Meeting of the Intersessional Open-Ended Intergovernmental Working Group, 27 November 2008, Geneva

According to a Note Verbale issued by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the “first meeting of the intersessional open-ended intergovernmental working group mandated to continue and finalize the process of negotiations on and drafting of the outcome document of the Durban Review Conference” will take place on 27 November 2008 at 10:00 hours in Room XIX at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Interested, accredited NGOs are requested to confirm their participation via fax (+41-(0)-22-928-9050), in order to obtain entry badges.

 

 

Progress in Preventing Child Abuse – Child Participation – Conference, 19 November 2008, Geneva

On the occasion of the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse, the Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) is organising a conference entitled “Progress in Preventing Child Abuse” on 19 November 2008 from 17:00 to 19:30 hours at the Centre International de Conférences Genève (CICG) in Geneva .

WWSF Guide for NGO and Citizen Action – Presentation and Discussion, 20 November 2008, Geneva

The Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) is hosting a presentation and discussion of the new “WWSF Guide for NGO and Citizen Action”, which is to make prevention of abuse and violence against children a global priority. 15 Years of the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, its Causes and Consequences [1994 – 2009]: A Review – Panel Discussion, 25 November 2008, New York

The UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, its Causes and Consequences, the UN Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI), and the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) are hosting a panel discussion entitled “15 Years of the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, its Causes and Consequences [1994 – 2009]: A Review”. The panel discussion will take place on 25 November 2008 from 10:00 to 11:45 hours at the Dag Hammarskjöld Library Auditorium at the UN Secretariat in New York .

The International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) is organising, in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung, a “Geneva China Dialogue” entitled “Post Kyoto, Post Doha: China, Trade and Climate Change” from 27 to 28 November 2008 at the World Meteorological Organization in Geneva. This dialogue will focus on China ’s contribution to the economic architecture of a global agreement on climate change, in the process towards the 15th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2009 in Copenhagen .
