Civil
Society Development Forum 2008, 27-29 June, New York
INVITATION
- CONGO
has the pleasure to invite you to the New York component of its
Civil
Society Development Forum 2008
- "A Platform for Development:
Countdown to 2015 - Implementing the internationally agreed development
goals and commitments in regard to sustainable development".
The CSDF 2008 will be held back-to-back with the ECOSOC Substantive
Session and will take place at the Church Center for the United
Nations, 777 UN Plaza (corner of 44th Street and 1st Avenue) in

FORMAT
- The
format of the CSDF 2008 substantive component will consist of three
cluster presentations, followed each by thematic break-out sessions.
An outcome document will be produced out of these presentations
and discussions. This document will be used for advocacy work during
the ECOSOC High-Level Segment and throughout the ECOSOC 2008 Substantive
Session.

ECOSOC
Development Cooperation Forum, 30 June - 1 July, New York
The
Economic and Social Council will convene the inaugural Development
Cooperation Forum on 30 June and 1 July in New York during the High-level
Segment of the Council. The Forum will particularly focus on issues
relating to aid commitments and aid quality, with a view of informing
and influencing the outcome of the Monterrey Follow-up Conference
in Doha and the Accra High-level Forum on Aid Effectiveness. Through
both plenary sessions and roundtables, the DCF aims to provide ample
opportunities for a wide range of stakeholders to contribute to
the global policy dialogue in this area. NGOs interested in participating
in the upcoming DCF should inform Ms. Hanifa Mezoui (mezoui @ un.org)
accordingly by 20 June, including indicating in which roundtable
they would like to participate. The draft agenda, the analytical
background report of the Secretary-General and other relevant DCF-related
documents are available on the ECOSOC
website.
Annual
Ministerial Review Innovation Fair, 30 June - 3 July, New York
The
Annual Ministerial Review (AMR) Innovation Fair will take place
at United Nations Headquarters during the ECOSOC High-level Segment.
During
the fair Best Practices and Success Stories submitted by organizations
in consultative status with ECOSOC will be showcased on the UN-NGO-IRENE
Best Practices Network website.
The
Future of Education And Hope for the Earth, 20 June 2008, New York
The
International Brain Education Association and the Korea Institute
of Brain Science organise the 4th International Brain Education
Conference, on the theme "Brain Education: The Future of Education
And Hope for the Earth". The President of CONGO, Mr. Liberato Bautista,

Panel
discussion on Child Labour, 24 June, New York
In
the preparation for the 2008 Resolution on the Rights of the Child,
Save the Children organises a special panel discussion taking place
on 24 June (1.15-2.30 pm) in Conference Room 7, United Nations Headquarters.

of the publication "Talking About Terrorism", 26 June, Geneva
On
the occasion of the publication of a new report on "Talking
About Terrorism - Risks and Choices for Human Rights Organisations",

Criminal Accountability and Children's Rights, UNU Midday Forum,

The

Criminal Accountability and Children's Rights.

The
Global
Forum on Migration and Development
is an inter-governmental forum taking place every year to discuss
issues related to migration and development. A number of related
civil society events will take place on this occasion. The application
process for participation in the Civil Society Days of the GFMD
is now open, and applications
are now available in English, Spanish and French. The deadline
for application is 30 June 2008.
