CONGO's Forthcoming Board Meeting and Launch of CONGO's Asia Regional Committee, 14 to 16 December 2008, Pathumthani, Thailand

CONGO's next Board meeting will be held with the collaboration of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) at the Institute's premises at Pathumthani, some 42 kilometres north of Bangkok, from 14 to 15 December 2008. Thereafter, on 16 December 2008, CONGO's Asia Regional Committee will be launched. On this occasion, CONGO will sponsor together with the AIT a joint colloquium on 16 December 2008 on the Millennium Development Goals.

60 years Universal Declaration of Human Rights and 60 years CONGO, 4 December 2008, Vienna Geneva

CONGO Vienna is organising in partnership with the City of Vienna an event with presentations and discussions under the theme 60 years Human Rights and 60 years CONGO on 4 December 2008 at 15:00 hours at the Vienna International Centre (VIC), Press Room C03. This event will be followed by a reception at the VIC Restaurant. .

Participants are requested to contact the CONGO Vienna office here no later than 1 December 2008 if a grounds pass for the VIC is needed.

   

UPR: Geneva Course for Defenders from the Regions Course, 11 December 2008 Geneva

CONGO and Geneva for Human Rights Global Training (GHR) are organising a Geneva course for human rights defenders from the regions, attending the 3rd session of the Working Group of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) on the Universal Periodic Reviews (UPR) entitled Course on the Human Rights Council, International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, International Procedures and Diplomacy. The course will take place from 1 to 11 December 2008 in CONGO's Conference Room, Avenue de la Paix 11, in Geneva. Geneva .

The Population Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (POP - UN/DESA), is organising the 7th Coordination Meeting on International Migration on 20 and 21 November 2008 at UN Headquarters in New York. The Meeting will discuss the follow-up to the 2006 High-Level Dialogue on International Migration and Development by UN System organizations and others, and review current and planned activities of the agencies, funds and programmes. On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, 25 November 2008, the 15th and 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence campaign will begin.
